  Parting Shot/Final Stats.
    4/6/06 10:30 pm
-Ok. What follows is the final stats (at least what I think.. if you have a question, please don't hesitate to contact me) I have an excel "master payout" sheet if anyone is interested. This year brought the return of the Auction King, The return of a crazy final four and the return of some coaching skills to Bloomington. Personally, I finally won -after an 11 year journey. I look forward to defending my title next year.
Speaking of next year a few ideas are allready in the works. First we'll "go Live" with the Stud pool, however, I plan on managing that via email (with maybe a separate Smack board -kinda like a poker room chat). Next, I plan on revamping the caledar of events. Intstead of having events on 2 separtate wed. nights, -look for a combined event on the later wed, with only an electronic 64 lotto drawing taking place on the first. More news as the year develops. As always, a great big thanks to all participants! it is because of YOU that this site exists! -Humbly, your '06 champion -Commishna Kdog

2006 U Pick Winner: Kory. Yep, after all these years yours truly finally hit pay dirt. -It wasn't pretty, but it counts just the same. I'd like to thank LSU and UCLA for giving my the one point advantage over RyanV. 280 was 80% of the total take (350). Runner up: RyanV . -2nd year for this young up and commer, with his 2 entries spending most of time occuping the top few spots. 70 beans for his efforts..
2006 CHUMP of the Year award:
DerekM. Worst picks ever... Ever. He'll get his beans back for that... and a year's worth of harassment! -Hey Coach, Shawn and Marcha.. please help rub it in!
64 Lotto Winner: Dave. This was deffinatly Dave's year, meeting himself in the finals created a "no contest -and a record take..Stew stole Wisconsin, and then North Carolina to take the this years prize..100 beans for his efforts. Runner up: Dave. See above. 21 beans goes to 3rd and 4th: Rana and RyanV.
2006 16 U Pick Winner: Kory.. Yep, not only did the Commish take the 64 u-pick, his expertise also payed dividends in the 16 Y-Pick. Heck, the Kory house hold took on and two (see below) -How do you like those apples! -56 beans goes my way. Runner up: Rana 14 beans goes to her.
2006 16 Lotto Winner: Jones! 100 beans to this fool. Every dog has his day in the sun, right?.
16 lotto also-rans:2nd place (and 30 beans) goes to ShawnR while 15 beans goes to JasonF and Jamie
NIT Tourney Champ: With a healthy Tuesday evening turnout, this annual guessing game has stood the test of time.
Steve Wins 11 beans with a come from behind bracket busting Michigan pick. Nice work!

2006 Auction big winner: Jones!. -the Return of the King! (some would say) Yep. Dr. Jones snuck in with one of the cheapest winners to date. for a measly 10 bean, Jones won 105 with his Florida pick uo. results here
Lastly the SUPERGRID. ShawnR is the big winner with his ownership of the 3 7-8 box. He got 2total games land in this spot with the final game netting him 100 beans, and the championship game added another 25. See the "Bean-out" grid below for other big winners.
2006 Deep Pockets Award: ShawnR. -this is the 2nd year in a row that ShawnR has proven, it takes beans to win beans. Note to other commisioners, try to have your auction on Shawns day off Every year. Invite this fella...;-)

While this is not 100%, I also have calculated an ROI (return on investment) for the top winners.

Kory tops the chart with 351%. Jones got 2nd with his last minute sweep of the auction and 16 lotto ( 266%) RyanV was in 3rd with 250% While Dave rounded out the top 4 with 103%. For those keeping track ShawnR actually came out in the black this year, with a 29% return on his investment.

  Sunday recap.
    4/2/06 11:00 am
-Just wanted to check in and let you know that all the stats are up to date and that I'm now working on the payout grid. -With one game left, several contests are now "unofficially" over. As always, a full update will come out by wed. Just for the record, the spreads for yesterdays games were: Florida by 6 and LSU (yea right) by 2. -It's all moot now, for a first time ever miracle has happened pitting Dave vs. HIMSELF. -Good luck with that one!
What's Left? Steve is looking to beat Jones in the Auction. ShawnR and Jones are battling it out in the 16 lotto, and EVERYONE is still alive in the SUPERGRID.
LAstly, I want to appoligize to those beta players of the Stud. I forgot to "make live" the entry link. Hopefully those interested in staying in, found a way to contact me.

-Again, a full update, beanout and recap will follow later this week. -Goodluck to all! Commish

  And then there was four
    3/26/06 8:00 pm
Wow, can you beleive that there are no number ones in the entire group? That's only happened once and it was 26 years ago. Do you beleive that an 11 seed is in it? Crazy times indeed. It is rumored that there are only 2 folks with a chance of winning it all. You can do all the math yourself, or check out the handy reports off to the side. All stats are up to date, -I'll be checking in and having more updates during the week in prepartation for the Tourney coming to my fair city. Remember, EVERYONE is still Live in the SUPERGRID. So far we have 5 players who have won 20 beans. (Marion, Kory, Olan, Erin, and Joe. ) Remember, EVERY participant is still alive and well with 3 games left to score. Lastly newbie RyanV joins Dave into the final four of the lotto. Congrats to all! Until later, Kdog Out

    Tourney Rules

  U Pick 'em
     2/25/06
Simple enough.. get points for correctly picking the 64 team tournament. Rounds are weighted 1,2,3,4,5 and 7. Tie breaker is correct picks first round, then second round then final score total. 5 beans per bracket.

  Lotto
     2/25/06
Same as last year, 3 to get in.. the winner gets a ton!
A one time drawing will occur before the first game of the tournament. Each pick will cost only 3 jelly beans. The winner AGAINST THE POINT SPREAD of each game advances.

Here's an example. Let's say tonight's game has the number 1 seed playing the 16th seed. The Star & News (which will be the official spread for this pool) has the number 1 seed winning by 12 points. If the number 1 seed wins by a 12 point margin or better.. The person who picked that team advances. The person who picked the 16th seed loses. If, however, the 16th seed team beats THE SPREAD by making the final score margin less than 12 points, the owner of the 16th seed now takes ownership of the 1 seed ticket. If the 16th seed team were to beat the number one seed in this example then the owner would of course keep that ticket. Don't let all this confuse you. Our crack staff will make sure that it all goes down the way it should. You don't really have to do anything but root for your teams. Every pick has the same probability for winning. Winner takes 110 Jelly beans, 2nd place gets 50 and 3rd and fourth get 16 each. Any teams not picked will be donated to the house.

  Auction
     225/06
This instant classic needs no explanation. The final 16 teams are auctioned to the highest bidder. For each victory your team gets you get a percentage of the pot. 1st win 5%. 2nd win 5 %. Third win 10 %. The winner wins the remainder.

  16 Lotto
     2/25/06
There will be a blind draw for the 16 teams. There is NO Spread with this, what you pull is what you get. 10 beans a pull. The beans pay out are: 4th and 3rd get 15. 2nd gets 30 and 1st gets 100. I would like to see 16 different people in this on.. Come on folks.. wudda ya say?

  16 U Pick 'em
     2/25/06
Simple enough.. get points for correctly picking the 16 team tournament. Rounds are weighted 1,2,3,4. Tie breaker is final score total then correct picks first round, then second round. 5 beans per bracket.

  SUPERGRID!
     3/12/06
Modified for 2006! This exciting option (courtesy of the Beedub's Brain trust circa 2004) allows ALL participants an option to win for EVERY game in Tournament! As the tourney progresses so does the payout, so that the final game is worth a whooping 40% (That equates to 100 beans for a 5 bean investment) The kicker is that you are illegible to win for each and every game!
HOW IT WORKS:
There are 50 "slots" on an x-y grid labeled 0-9 on the x axis, double numbered on the Y. The axis represents the higher seed vs. the lower seed. CHANGED in 05.. Higerscore vs. Lower score. When the score is final, the owner of the grid-box with last digit for each teams score, wins that rounds payout.

Payout Schedule:Modified for 2006! Final Version will be posted in March! -NEW! there will be ONE winner of 20 beans the first 3 rounds (the most squares with victors) -Ties will roll forward scorred by round until a victor is determined. -If still tied after the final game the the total will be shared.

Why? This way there is a big payout at the end and significant payouts for the final four, and the champions. Remember EVERY square is "Live" for every game in the tourney. -Coolbeans indeed!
