  The Final Stats.
     4/7/05 10:30pm
Drumroll please...
2005 U Pick Winner:
Steve. Steve and his damn "New Syestem" ties THE RECORD for total points (90) with a 79% ratio. He left the gate running and never looked back. 266 was 80% of the total take (330). Runner up: Bernie . -New comer to the festivities 66 beans for his efforts.. Congrats gents.
2005 PUNK of the Year award:
Marcha. Worst picks ever... Ever. SHE gets HER beans back for that... and a year's worth of harassment!
64 Lotto Winner: TStew. TStew stole Wisconsin, and then North Carolina to take the this years prize..100 beans for his efforts. Runner up: EShawn. Eshawn rode Arizona hard and wet until steeling Illinois from Ryan's Dad. Nice move, foo. 50 beans for your efforts. 21 beans goes 3rd and 4th goes to Kory and Bernie.
2005 16 U Pick Winner: Joe I.. Joe's a newbie but quickly got the hang of it, participating in alot of this years activities 80 beans for his effort. Runner up: Rana and DKory.(A.k.a. OldDog?) crazily both had the exact same thing, so no tie breaker could fix it. -Hence they split it. 10 beans a piece.
2005 16 Lotto Winner: Kevin! 100 beans to this auction rookie!.
16 lotto also-rans:2nd place (and 30 beans) goes to Coach while 15 beans goes to Kory and Marcha (her 2nd year in a row)
NIT Tourney Champ: Ok Folks, unless I hear otherwise this is the last year for the NIT challenge. Isn't it one of the signs of The End Of Days,
when Durham Wins a sporting contest? 7 WHOLE beans goes his way, the entire pot!

2005 Auction big winner: ShawnR. -Luckily for him, right? -Just goes to prove that it takes money to win this contest. See the full results here
Lastly the SUPERGRID. Coach is the big winner with his ownership of the 5-9-0 box. He got 2total games land in this spot with the final game netting him 79 beans. See the "Bean-out" grid below for other big winners.
2005 Deep Pockets Award: Shawn"I'll get 8 of the auction teams"R. -Note to other commisioners, try to have your auction on St. Patrick's day Every year. Invite this fella...;-)

FINAL NOTES: Over 1300 beans were paid-out this year!
Steve is the grand champion 264. Eshawn recouped 145 while Coach snuck into the top three with 140.

I have a nice and concise Excel spreadsheet for anyone who would like a copy. It details all "bean-outs" and winnings. NEW THIS YEAR! I also calculated Profit and Profit margin this year...

Of the top 7winners,

Steve had a 491% return on investment
Shawn had a 9% return
Coach had a 128%
While SHAWNR HAD A NEGATIVE 35%! ;-) si
Kevin had a 209%
TStew a 294% and
Bernie a 411%

Well folks, it was another great year for tourney action.. Next year will bring the return of the Hoosiers, another Boilermaker absence.. and maybe the return of Federman. Until then, Keep the bugs off your bumper and bears off your tail! -Kory (and YES I simply copy and pasted this from 2004 season, sue me, it's late and I now have a kid!)

  Monday Late night. It's over!
     4/4/05 10:30pm
The final payouts will be calculated within the next 2 days and beans will be distributed. Off the top of my head a few big winners. STEVE and "His System" (I'm privy to it, -I wouldn't call it a system) anyway. Joe I from CPM takes the u-pick. Coach scores big in the supergrid, Shawnr wins the auction and TStew takes the lotto. As I said, the final info will be posted in the nest few days. Thanks you all for another great year. For now, Kdog out.

  Monday Update. This is it!
     4/4/05 6:30pm

SPREAD: ILLINOIS over LOUISVILLE by 3, N.C. over MICH. STATE by 5
Inpact on Lotto?: ESHAWN vs BERNIE and TSTEW vs KDOG, losers settle for 21 beans.

Auction: ESHAWN, KORY, and 2 teams for SHAWNR are all that is left. Losers settle for 23.
16 Lotto: it's COACH, KEVIN, MARCHA and KORY. Losers settle for 15
Favorites?: STEVE'S NEW SYSTEM is the heavy Favorite in the main u-pick-em. In the 16 U-pick, 5 folks are still in it. -Including COACH (There, bobby, are you happy? you're mentioned not once but twice!)
SUPERGRID:    (Dramatic pause)     EVERYONE is still in it!! This round is for 20!

Final Four Set, All things updated!
     3/27/05 8:30pm
First and foremost. The spreads for todays games were North Carolina by 10 and Kentucky by 1.5 Sorry Marcha, NC didn't cover, STEW takes them into the BEAN Rounds!
USE AT YOUR ON RISK! Besides updating everything I also ran another report: Tournament Scenarios.. check it out at your own Risk! Lastly, Go big 10!

  Site updated
     3/26/05 9:30am
And then there were 8. Everything is updated except for the spread for today's games. Look for that closer to tip time. It's at this time that we can start to see if you really have a chance or not. I'm posting a new report that let's you know your best and worst place scenarios. For most it will confirm their worst suspicions. For others it will return hope. In the 64 u-pick, Look out for PATW who is sneaking up fast on the front runners! It the 16 U-Pick if appears that RANA'S "unbeatable system" -An obvious crack on the 64-Upick leader STEVE - encountered some problems, but still is in the running along with her 2 other brackets and the perinal apperance of STEW. That's all for now, Good Luck!

Last NIT Challenge scored thru 3rd round
     3/24/05 10:10pm
That's right folks. This year will be the last for the NIT challenge. Simply put.. It's not really worth it. Anyway, It's been fun! What the "heck" it's only a buck- Was the motto of this. If there IS interest, of course we can bring it back.JONES leads it with 40 with KORY a close second. DURHAM, who's been absent from this forum for way to long, might have tipped his hat as to why. His last place also carries the dubious distinction of not haveing any teams left. 17 will be his final score. Enjoy the night games! Kdog

  Tournament History
     3/5/02
Quick.. Who won the 1976 NCAA Tournament? Ok.. that one is easy. -How about 1981? 1974? Here's a convenient list of all past winners. Tournament History

    Tourney Rules

  U Pick 'em
     3/9/05
Simple enough.. get points for correctly picking the 64 team tournament. Rounds are weighted 1,2,3,4,5 and 7. Tie breaker is correct picks first round, then second round then final score total. 5 beans per bracket.

  Lotto
     3/9/05
Same as last year, 3 to get in.. the winner gets a ton!
A one time drawing will occur before the first game of the tournament. Each pick will cost only 3 jelly beans. The winner AGAINST THE POINT SPREAD of each game advances.

Here's an example. Let's say tonight's game has the number 1 seed playing the 16th seed. The Star & News (which will be the official spread for this pool) has the number 1 seed winning by 12 points. If the number 1 seed wins by a 12 point margin or better.. The person who picked that team advances. The person who picked the 16th seed loses. If, however, the 16th seed team beats THE SPREAD by making the final score margin less than 12 points, the owner of the 16th seed now takes ownership of the 1 seed ticket. If the 16th seed team were to beat the number one seed in this example then the owner would of course keep that ticket. Don't let all this confuse you. Our crack staff will make sure that it all goes down the way it should. You don't really have to do anything but root for your teams. Every pick has the same probability for winning. Winner takes 110 Jelly beans, 2nd place gets 50 and 3rd and fourth get 16 each. Any teams not picked will be donated to the house.

  Auction
     3/9/05
This instant classic needs no explanation. The final 16 teams are auctioned to the highest bidder. For each victory your team gets you get a percentage of the pot. 1st win 5%. 2nd win 5 %. Third win 10 %. The winner wins the remainder.

  16 Lotto
     3/9/05
There will be a blind draw for the 16 teams. There is NO Spread with this, what you pull is what you get. 10 beans a pull. The beans pay out are: 4th and 3rd get 15. 2nd gets 30 and 1st gets 100. I would like to see 16 different people in this on.. Come on folks.. wudda ya say?

  16 U Pick 'em
     3/9/05
Simple enough.. get points for correctly picking the 16 team tournament. Rounds are weighted 1,2,3,4. Tie breaker is final score total then correct picks first round, then second round. 5 beans per bracket.

  SUPERGRID!
     3/9/05
This exciting new option (courtesy of the Beedub's Brain trust) allows ALL participants an option to win for EVERY game in Tournament! As the tourney progresses so does the payout, so that the final game is worth a whooping 30% (That equates to 150 beans for a 5 bean investment) The kicker is that you are illegible to win for each and every game!
HOW IT WORKS:
There are 100 "slots" on an x-y grid labeled 0-9 on each axis. The axis represents the higher seed vs. the lower seed. When the score is final, the owner of the grid-box with last digit for each teams score, wins that rounds payout.

Payout Schedule:

First Round 20%, 2nd = 10%, 3rd = 10%, 4th = 10%, 5th = 20%, Final 30%

Payout Example: for a full matrix of "5 bean slots" = 500 total Beans

round "beans" 100 50 50 50 100 150
per Player 3.125 3.125 6.25 12.5 50 150

Detailed Rules:
Seed ties? If 2 of the same seeds meet, then it goes by record. Watch the game and see who is considered "home".
Blanks? In the event that not all spaces are occupied, the payout for that square will be added to the final payout for the final game. If the final game score grid is blank, the higherseed score will be added to by one until a winner is determined.
